Mi Equipment has made a significant mark in the industry with its flagship product the Mi series die sorter, which offers the lowest cost of ownership for its clients by achieving a high productivity rate of more than 50,000 units per hour. The company is also at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) infused vision systems. Its AI technology, MiND.X, is Mi Equipment’s chief innovation, enhancing vision determination during the die-sorting process, where every device requires a vision inspection.
The advanced AI improves vision performance, resulting in a lower cost of ownership. This is achieved by eliminating false rejections of functional devices and preventing the acceptance of defective ones, ensuring accurate classifications.
Sorted dies are reassembled through reconstruction process, which includes wafer-to-wafer or wafer-to-waffle pack sorting. It manages multiple bins simultaneously, which enhances clients’ productivity by reducing the number of sorting operations.
The company significantly improves operational efficiency by designing interfaces to integrate these automation systems and machines seamlessly. It also actively explores fleet management through client collaborations, which involves monitoring and managing automated systems. Mi Equipment provides a concrete manufacturing ecosystem through this comprehensive approach, effectively streamlining automation and minimizing human intervention.

Mi Equipment uses cutting-edge AI technology to develop and implement customized, innovative solutions, illustrating its focus on customer needs. For instance, it assisted a customer struggling with distinguishing between grinding marks and defects on their chips, as they appear similar under conventional vision systems. By leveraging MiND.X, the client accurately identified defects and managed their devices, preserving their integrity and minimizing expenses.

The research and development (R&D) personnel leverage multinational insights and customer knowledge to address the challenges of centralizing operations, such as reduced speed, talent acquisition difficulties, and ineffective customer feedback responses. The remaining one-third of the workforce focuses on non-technical roles, which include financial aspects of the organization and a human resource team that develops a positive work culture for the employees.
Moving forward, the company’s latest contribution to the semiconductor industry—its laser bonding technology— marks a prominent milestone in its advancement. The innovation bonds chips using laser as a heat medium.
